The wildlife around Paw Village has become angry and violent, and so you have been summoned to investigate and defend your citizens. Luckily your uncle lives in Paw Village and his home becomes your base. The combat is real-time and combo-driven, but you’ll grow stronger by first growing crops. Enemies drop ingredients and seeds that you can plant, and your crops become provisions and materials that allow you to craft “more powerful weapons, armour and accessories,” according to its Steam page....

EA say that you’ll have access to the entire game during the free trial, not just a subset of maps or activities. It is a team-based competitive game, so that’ll involve teaming up with friends across platforms, unlocking cosmetic items, and participating in four different game style playlists. EA are calling the first ten days of KOC their Block Party including a couple days where the developers will be matching up against players on Twitch and a community tournament as well....

Here’s a trailer for the crossover event: Jinx has always seemed like Harley Quinn with the serial numbers filed off, but she’s also one of the protagonists if Arcane, Riot’s self-funded anime series due to launch on Netflix on November 6th. Also coming this month are the brutal Inferno difficulty for the Vykas Legion Raid, and the Achates Trial Guardian. These are both intended to be rock solid challenges. Both the Interno raid and Achates Trial Guardian reward you with titles and achievements instead of the usual rewards of gear and materials – if you best them successfully, of course. The Achates Trial Guardian is a winged lion with some kind of crown made of lightning bolts, so I can believe it’s not easy to tackle....

It tells the tale of Toto and Gal, a pair of rambunctious siblings who end up far from home after getting lost inside a fantasy world of their own imagining. If they don’t find a way back before nightfall, though, they’ll be stuck there forever. A classic kids adventure story, in other words, but one that really relishes in its own sense of playfulness. Over the course of their four-odd hour adventure, they’ll meet monster fighting frogs in a dark forest, board game-playing seagulls on the high seas, orc mechanics in a vast desert and even a heavy-metal loving sheep on a floating island in the sky as they make their way home to their messy childhood bedroom....

As I gather is the case in the Marvel world, there’s always a new big baddie to kick. This time around that’s Lilith, mother of demons. Your custom hero Hunter is actually Lilith’s kid, and apparently the only one known to have kicked her rear in the past. You’ll be doing battle against her army of Lilin demons to save the world and all after the super squad resurrect you to help out....

The latest location, Vormir, is a bit borked. I just spent a minute or so swapping emotes with someone while the game tried to load our (unrelated) animations, which might not sound like much but constitutes a good third of a match’s normal running time. I’m not the only one running into lag problems. Reddit is rife with people reporting issues, and it seems everyone at Kotaku is having trouble too....

Without spoiling anything, I can tell you that things get… quite interesting from here. But before we move on to that, I want to do something I always regretted not doing with the Basement of Curiosity, which is provide you with a proper profile for each and every founding dwarf. Announced last week, Japan is the first in what the devs hope to be many free World Updates - improving sections of the flight sim’s satellite-scanned geometry, one corner of the Earth at a time. Flight Sim might offer the whole world, but the sheer scale means it’s done so at a fairly rough level, with only 341 of Earth’s cities given the photogrammetry treatment in-game. The Japan World Update adds six more cities to that list, including Sendai, Takamatsu, Tokushima, Tokyo, Utsunomiya and Yokohama, as well as an “all-new digital elevation map” that increases terrain detail across the entire island nation....

There’s plenty of options for what else Xbox Game Studios and Bethesda could show off in June. Obsidian are still beavering away on their first-person RPG set in the Pillars Of Eternity universe, Avowed, along with The Outer Worlds 2. The Initiative and Crystal Dynamics are rebooting Perfect Dark, so that might sneak in - although given the recent mass of departures, this one might need a little longer in the oven all things considered....

Like most subscription services, Microsoft regularly advertise Game Pass with a £1-a-month offer that then auto-renews at full price after three months. As access to media increasingly depends on various subscription service, it’s easy to sign up to an account and then forget about it. The changes the CMA have secured include offering clearer information to customers about auto-renewal policies, offering pro-rata refunds to customers who cancel during a recurring 12-month sub, refunding and automatically cancelling unused accounts, and better information about price increases....

As you can see, this appears to be your post-apocalyptic world where humans are eking out a living among the ruins of their former civilisation. And sand. Lot of sand. This does provide the lady in the trailer something to surf down into battle, in a cool way, to protect a caravan travelling accross the desert. The voiceover gives a lot of talk of gods, sand, ruins, a shattered world, sand, stories, gods, and sand....

I’m sorry I wished for New Tales From the Borderlands, everyone. Tales From The Borderlands is an interactive narrative adventure set in the Borderlands universe, where you choose dialogue options, actions, and pass or fail quick-time events. These accumulate over the course of several episodes and ultimately contribute to the outcome of the story. It is, and I cannot stress this enough, fantastic, especially because how good it is came as a surprise when it released in 2014....

The developers did announce Nivalis in 2021 but didn’t have much to show. Now we have this fancy trailer and more info and things. There we are, in another brutal cyberpunk city, just trying to run a small business. Starting with something small like a noodle stand or stim store, we’ll get to work up to bigger, fancier spots like nightclubs and restaurants. Along the simulated days and nights, we can cook and mix cocktails for customers, grow our own ingredients, decorate our home, get to know local folks, go fishing, and even consider the possibility of love in a cold world....

To call Northern Journey “retro” would completely misrepresent it. It’s beautiful in an ugly, desolate way reminiscent of Kenshi or Morrowind. It’s translucent in its exposition but not obtuse, hostile, or obnoxiously hard. It’s a bit clunky, without that ever undermining the experience. It’s vaguely amateurish, yet almost consciously so, like a painter who knows their talent and intent is enough to overcome any technical flaws. This is a bloody treat and I’m so glad I got to play it....

GOG Galaxy 2.0 already unifies all your separate game libraries from different storefronts like the Epic Store, Steam, Origin, and so on. Now it will collect every game you currently own as part of your subscription services as well. Subscription game services have become a lot more the norm in the past year than frankly I ever expected them to. The Xbox Game Pass for PC library always seems to be adding great games....
