The big old Russian defender is getting some much needed changes. His stationary turret is being taken away from him, but they’re replacing this by giving him a hefty LMG as his primary weapon. The poor guy needed some more mobility, particularly in high level play, as he’s a bit of a sitting duck on that old turret. He’s also getting an incendiary grenade launcher as his new gadget. In the Twitch clip below you can have a look at how said launcher can be used to bounce grenades off of walls and around corners, then explode leaving pools of fire that will damage enemies that get too close....

Although the proposed union is specifically of QA staff, Activision want the eligible voting group to contain as many employees as possible. I was expecting Return To Monkey Island to be a delightful croquembouche of point and click puzzles artfully piled up with puns and meta jokes, all slathered in the sticky, sugary caramel of nostalgia. And it is that. But I wasn’t expecting it to contain a gentle rumination on getting old and figuring out what things are really worth caring about. Guybrush’s latest story of lovely piratical nonsense sees him going on a quest to actually find the secret of Monkey Island, given that he got diverted in the first game....

The Royalty expansion adds the Empire pootling around space, a load of toffs with expensive tastes, courtly traditions, and some real nice weapons. Colonists will be able to gain titles from the Empire, which gives them great tools like psychic weapons and the ability to call in heavily-armed troops. But they’ll also become right royal pains in the bum, demanding fine rooms and special treatment while acting like they own the place....

This modern incarnation is a 3v3 shooter, out now, with class abilities and rocket-based weapons that Sin somewhat disappointingly describes as “functionally much like regular guns”. You win by knocking your opponents out of the arena, rather than making them explode. Sin enjoyed doing this several weeks ago, though, and I think I probably will too. Even though my brain insists this should be free-to-play and it actually costs £25....

The demo features a tutorial, a single dungeon to stab through, and the beginnings of the town you’ll be paying to renovate with your plundered gems. The dungeons are a Zelda-ish mix of sword combat, timed blocking and simple puzzles. In fact, the whole thing is reminiscent of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures on the Gamecube once you factor in the emphasis on co-op, though sadly it’s local only in the dmeo....

Recently, I’ve been playing the upcoming digo-version of Roll For The Galaxy. Race is a classic, and Roll is its funky sequel that spins up some of the same ideas in a way that is very nearly as good. I can see myself playing a lot of it, while also struggling to recommend it to anyone I know. That’s mainly because it’s a nightmare to learn. Even when you get someone in front of you explaining the physical version, who’s good at both the game and teaching it, they’ll probably struggle to explain it to people who are generally experienced at learning board game rules....
