The main aim of Bomb Warrior is to fill your opponent’s deck with a multitude of Bomb tokens so that every card draw risks dealing more damage to them and steadily whittles away at their health pool. At five damage a pop, this can represent some significant damage over time! This version of the deck is supported by a number of Rush minions that can quickly deal with your opponent’s threats while also pushing for some extra face damage where possible. There’s also a fairly hefty Mech package to give the deck an even more ridiculous late game. There are multiple cards in the deck that pair well with a lot of the Bomb-shuffling abilities too. These can ensure the effects are repeated more often, or help you extract extra value out of the Bombs you’ve placed by providing you with extra minions. Essentially, you want to make each draw for your opponent a terrifying turn of the card to see whether it’s one of their own or an explosive surprise! Early game: A fairly standard early game awaits as you simply spend time playing a few minions to get your board presence built up, while removing your opponent’s opening drops. Sword and Board is a decent way to keep early enemy drops off the battlefield, and Shield Slam is a solid option too, as long as you have armour on deck. You won’t be able to get Bombs in the enemy deck just yet, but play out cards like EVIL Quartermaster and Shield Block when you can to cycle and get the ball rolling. If you have Corsair Cache in hand, use it with whatever spare mana you have too - drawing an extra durability Wrenchcalibur will help you a lot. Mid game: You’ll want to start ramping up your Bomb shuffling even more as you approach the mid game, and luckily you have access to tools that make this even easier. Wrenchcalibur is the way you’ll be Bombing your opponent’s deck, and also taking out enemy minions to maintain control over your opponent’s board. Now’s the time to keep the board clear - Lord Barov can clear when combined with Whirlwind or Sword and Board, and trading off minions is always a shout in order to hold onto board control. If things are looking a little grim, cards such as Cutting Class can refill your hand for cheap if you’re holding a weapon. If they survive then you can continue to push for more damage. Brawl is an option if you become overwhelmed entirely. Late game: A couple of late game options in Bomb Warrior can give you that last burst of power to finish off your opponent. One of the standout cards from the new set is Blastmaster Boom, which will summon a number of Boom Bots on your side of the board, depending on how many Bombs are in your opponent’s deck. Chances are at this stage of the game that should be a fair few and enough to wipe out your opponent when set off! You can also use Kronx Dragonhoof after putting Galakrond, the Unbreakable on as your Hero. This’ll give you a choice of Devastations with which to survive or finish the enemy. Aggro opponents Here are some things to keep in mind when playing against aggro opponents:
- Play a control heavy game in the early stages by using your removal to keep their board in check. 2. Don’t be afraid to encourage your opponent to overextend on the board so you can wipe everything out with a well-timed Brawl. 3. Many aggro players like to draw through their decks quickly, so ensure you’re filling them up with Bombs to make those card draw effects risky. 4. Wrenchcalibur is usually best against minions, as it’ll help you control the board while also stuffing more bombs into the opponent’s deck.
Control opponents A few tips for facing control opponents on the ranked ladder:
- The deck has very limited hard removal so save Brawl for when you need to eliminate some bigger threats. 2. If you can stay with Control decks until the late game you have some powerful cards to keep you in the contest with the likes of Blastmaster Boom. 3. You might want to play a more aggressive game against some Control decks. Race them down with your minions instead of setting up lengthy Bomb kills that they may just heal through.
Bomb Warrior Mulligan guide
These are the cards you’ll want to search for in your opening hand:
- Sword and Board is perfect for getting the enemy out of your face early on. 2. Corsair Cache draws you one of your weapons and buffs it. This is a great setup for future turns, giving you a Wrenchcalibur with an extra Durability point. 3. EVIL Quartermaster is a lovely little 3-drop that gives you armour as well as a Lackey in hand. Witchy Lackey is an absolute treat too, as it allows you to get a 4-drop from your Quartermaster, usually a big ol’ buff.
Bomb Warrior tips, combos and synergies
These are some of the key synergies that are important to master when playing Bomb Warrior:
- Hoard Pillager should be used after a Wrenchcalibur is destroyed, otherwise it’ll just be a 4 mana 4/2. - Wrenchcalibur is simply another way to get more Bombs into your opponent’s deck. Having the ability on a weapon is especially nice though, as it allows you to smack away at some minions at the same time - that’s what we call value! - Perhaps one of the more important cards in the deck, Blastmaster Boom gets so much added value out of all the Bombs you’ve played into your opponent’s deck. The Boom Bots are excellent, since they can trade with enemies and hit deal their Deathrattle damage. - Doctor Krastinov, if you keep it alive for a couple turns, can buff your Wrenchcalibur big time, especially if you combine it with Upgrade! Use them to go face with your weapon for even more guaranteed damage. - Buffing your weapon with Doctor Krastinov and Upgrade! will discount Cutting Class even more, even to 0 mana if you get your weapon to 5 attack. Remember, Galakrond, the Unbreakable’s Hero Power won’t discount it more though - it only takes into account your weapon’s attack, not your Hero’s.
