Netflix announced the new show today, saying that the anime series will follow the events of the recent game series reboot by Crystal Dynamics and Eidos-Montréal. Presumably that means we’ll be picking Lara up as fully-fledged Tomb Raider after the events of the origin story trilogy. Torchlight Infinite bases itself on lore from the original games, but takes things into an apocalyptic setting in the land of Leptis. There’ll be six characters to choose from, including the recently announced oracle Thea, who devs XD say is a “goddess with magical powers who has a strong connection to the moon”. Crikey. Each hero has three traits, but there’s also more than 230 skills to pick from, along with something mysterious called the “Six Gods Talent System”....
“By mixing the Assassin’s Creed sense of adventure and history with the colorful and delightful designs of the Little Mr. Men, these books will appeal to both young and adult readers,” Ubisoft say in their announcement. “Follow Mister Ezio, Little Miss Kassandra, and Little Miss Eivor, as they each try to complete their own missions in the first three books of this series!” They’re illustrated by the son of creator Roger Hargreaves, who took over the series after his father’s death....
You’ve got a month from today to claim certain single-player DLC for some older games too. These are Assassin’s Creed 3, Brotherhood, Liberation HD, Driver: San Francisco, Far Cry 3, Prince Of Persia: The Forgotten Sands and Silent Hunter 5. There’s some better news though, as Anno 2070 is being maintained by Ubisoft Mainz and won’t see its online features deactivated, contrary to what was announced back in July....

Fox says Chapter 2 will launch at 8pm EST (maybe he means EDT?) on Friday the 7th, which for us would be midnight (or 1am?) on Saturday. “Thanks for waiting,” Fox said in his announcement. Similarly to UK and EU competition regulators, the FTC is investigating Microsoft’s intended acquisition of Activision Blizzard out of concern that the deal could be damaging to competition and consumer choice within the game industry. The European Commission announced earlier this month that they’d deepen their investigation into the potential buyout, citing the possibility of Microsoft cutting off competitors’ access to Activision Blizzard’s popular games, such as the Call Of Duty series....

Killjoy’s all about placing turrets to gather intel as well as zoning enemies with grenades and AoE effects. She’s a decent pick and definitely worth investing some time in - we can see her in many a team comp! Escalation’s a 5v5 mode where both teams race to work through 12 randomly-generated weapons and abilities. These loadouts will get worse as time goes by, to the point where you’ll be facing off against one another with some of Valorant’s most basic weaponry. More often than not, this weapon will be a knife, and the idea of a five person squad hoofing it around the map looking for a slice sounds like a lot of fun....
“Ghanaian Agent Astra harnesses the energies of the cosmos to reshape battlefields to her whim,” reads her character bio. “With full command of her astral form and a talent for deep strategic foresight, she’s always eons ahead of her enemy’s next move.” Astra’s abilities all revolve around placing stars across the map, which she can then pop with different abilities. Her C skill creates a Gravity Well, sucking enemies in and applying the vulnerable status effect when it explodes....

Holders of the Commandos licence Kalypso Media say they’ve rebuilt the game’s 3D models and textures “from the ground up”, fiddled around with the controls to improve them, tweaked the AI and reworked the tutorials to ease first-time players into the series. The original Commandos 3’s multiplayer deathmatch and capture the flag modes are back, along with all six special ops soldiers. Let’s hope it’s a less buggy release than the Commandos 2: HD Remaster was in 2020....
