They’ve both since switched to less-hostile systems that let people see what they’re actually paying for. “While some of you enjoyed purchasing random item Loot Llamas and being surprised by the content unlocked, others were disappointed,” Epic say about Fortnite, and basically the same for Rocket League. Evidently enough were disappointed for a class-action suit to build....

The main gimmick is the scoring system, which eschews integers, and instead grants points in fractions, decimals, and indices - although it should be noted that you don’t have to understand fractions to play the game, and it will not teach you to understand them either. And nothing else ever happens. There ya go. Frogs, fractions, a pond and that. A lot of people love the the frogs and the fractions....

Can you blame me for enjoying these hot new lewks? After all, Godfall truly is 100% about the aesthetic. In the trailer I’m seeing lion and wolf head helmets, winged helmets, and helmets with cool skulls on the front. The body armour is pretty good too, I’m just rather taken with the safari theme. Developers Counterplay Games are adding 20 new Valorplate skins (magic armour) and loads of new loot, so there’ll be plenty to wear down the catwalk, I’m sure....

Valve slammed all the news in a quiet tweet last night: You know, I’m almost surprised they didn’t sneak in the TF2 Engineer’s toolbox there. Over the weekend, Reddit user “WickedSoldier991” posted that if you launch Infinite offline, you can access and save a bunch of currently unavailable modes, then play them when you go online again (as well as share them with your pals). The hidden modes are mostly all versions of existing modes you’ve likely seen already, except for one, Attrition. This one gives each team a limited number of respawns, and you win by depleting your opponents’....

It was a challenging and hilarious game that kept me playing for years. Carving new pathways through the yellow tiles (is it meant to be hay or something?) would allow the cops to change their patrol patterns in sometimes unpredictable ways, so timing was essential every time you wanted to make a break for the beer. And I still remember the tension of having the cops whizz past you but not spot you because you weren’t quite on their patrol path....

Aliya and her robot pal Six are a big part of what makes Heaven’s Vault so special. They have a great dynamic, with Aliya’s headstrong enthusiasm for sniffing down clues constantly butting heads with Six’s prim and proper ‘play by the rules’ outlook. They can be wonderfully sarcastic and catty with each other depending on your choice of dialogue options, and their playful, combative exchanges help bring a real sense of energy and liveliness to the game’s often ponderous exploration sections....

Kalimba’s main hook is that you control both totem heads at the same time. They walk at the same speed, and they both jump when the other one does. It’s an idea you may have seen before in other indie puzzle platformers, such as Sparpweed’s Ibb & Obb, but here it’s used to even greater effect, and it really messes with your old melon. For the most part, your two brightly coloured totem buds occupy separate halves of the screen....
