Valheim Eikthyr location
Eikthyr is the first boss you’ll come across in Valheim. Each boss must be summoned at their specific type of Mystical Altar, and the only way to find out the location of such Altars is by interacting with Vegvisir runestones - the small glowing red stones you tend to find near manmade structures on the Valheim map. With Eikthyr, though, you don’t have to go searching. Eikthyr’s Vegvisir is always at spawn, and forms part of the circle of stones representing the Forsaken at the centre of the world. Just interact with this small red runestone and a marker will be placed on the map over Eikthyr’s Mystical Altar.
How to summon Eikthyr in Valheim
To summon Eikthyr, you need to find the Altar and place 2 Deer Trophies on it. You do this by placing the Deer Trophies on your hotbar and then using the corresponding number key while pointing your cursor at the Altar. Deer Trophies are obtained by hunting and killing Deer in the Meadows - the starting biome of Valheim. It’s not a guaranteed drop, so you may have to kill more than two Deer to get two Deer Trophies. More elite Deer (with 1 or 2 stars next to their Health Bar) will have a higher chance of dropping Deer Trophies. Once you have 2 such Deer Trophies, place them on the Mystical Altar to summon Eikthyr. After a few seconds, Eikthyr will spawn and the boss fight will begin.
Valheim Eikthyr boss fight walkthrough
If you’re not prepared with the right weapons and armor then Eikthyr will walk right over you, but if you are prepared then it’s actually a very straightforward fight. I’d recommend you wait until you have a Flint Spear and a shield - round or tower, it doesn’t matter too much. You’ll also want to have as much Health and Stamina as possible, so eat some Cooked Meat, a Grilled Neck Tail, and a Mushroom just before you take on Eikthyr. And in case you do get hit, best to don yourself in some Leather Armor. As for how to defeat Eikthyr, that’s actually incredibly easy. It has three attacks: a headbutt, and two lightning attacks - one in a cone, the other in a circle around him. All three can be tanked just by blocking with the shield. The key to making this fight easy is to block every attack. So don’t get overeager and try to throw in more stabs with the spear than you have time for. Play it safe, and don’t bring your Stamina down all the way to zero with your attacks. Block, stab, rinse, repeat until Eikthyr explodes into a cloud of loot.
How to mount Eikthyr Trophy to get Eikthyr’s Forsaken Power
Eikthyr drops two things when it dies. The first is its head - the Eikthyr Trophy. Take this back to the first of the stones at spawn and hang it on the hook. Then interact with the stone to receive Valheim’s first Forsaken Power. If you’re having trouble using the Eikthyr Trophy: you have to interact specifically with the hook on the stone in order to mount the trophy! Forsaken Powers are abilities that you can use whenever they are off cooldown. Each Forsaken Power can be activated once every twenty minutes, and lasts 5 minutes after activation. Eiktyhr’s Forsaken Power is particularly useful: once activated, you consume 60% less stamina from running and jumping. The other very important item dropped by Eikthyr is a small stack of Hard Antlers. These unique materials are required for you to craft your first Pickaxe, so don’t lose them! And that’s all you need to know in order to defeat Eikthyr, the first boss in Valheim.
